Conducted analysis of the Ukrainian fuel-power complex and its minerals raw materials base, made it possible to establish that one of the ways of filling up the energy resources shortage is the attraction of the large-scale Trough-like-fields of Solid Hydrocarbon Fuel into the exploitation. The absence of the theoretical and methodological base, which takes into account the specific features of this very type of fields, can cause difficulties and problem situations while their development. Taking this into consideration, the elaboration of the methodological basics of grounding of the exploitation way and outlining of the open-pit mining borders of this very type of fields were made. The technique of contouring the quarry fields was also worked out, as well as the rational way of discovering and engineering process of exploitation, with principle technical and operating parameters grounded.
