Essay

The dissertation focuses on the study of the archetypal layer present in the novels by F.S. Fitzgerald and V. Domontovych as an integral system that influences the general character of the texts. The methods used in the analysis are as follows: comparative typological, mythocritical, archetypal, elements of psychoanalytical, onyrocritical. The usage of them helps work out the typology of archetypes of natural elements (Soil, namely Mother-Earth, Stone, Rock, House archetypal imagery, archetypes of Labyrinth, Fire, Water), primordial images of unconscious (basic Mother, Animus and Anima archetypes), demonic mythologeme of the Witch Woman, centralizing Selbst archetype in its connection with the Old Wise archetype and quest mythologeme, as well as archetypal features of Homo Ludens complex realized in the lives of heroes of F.S. Fitzgerald and V. Domontovych. The implication of culturally, nationally and individually marked features that define the character of the archetypal layer in the novels by F.S.Fitzgerald and V. Domontovych is revealed.
