Essay

For the first time there have been synthesized and characterized three new benzenesulfonamides, four new azidebenzenesulfonamides and four new methacrylic monomers based on benzenesulfonamides. There have been synthesized 20 modeling compounds, their structures being confirmed by spectral methods. The kinetics of azide photolysis in solutions has been investigated. The research proves that the presence of new azides enables the process of photoinitiated polymerization of methylmethacrylate in solutions, the peculiarities of this process being considered. There have been determined kinetic regularity of radical thermoinitiated polymerization of methacrylamides by dilatometric method. The results achieved provide for photochemical modification of surfaces of polymer materials by azides based on benzenesulfonamides which enables to use them as biostabilizers for plastic masses. The thesis shows possible formation of colorless organic azides with a number of non-conjugated ?-electron systems, with the photolysis being slower than that of the similar azides having one system. This becomes possible due to intramolecular excitation energy transfer from the reaction centre to the acceptor ?-electronic system. This provides for controlled decomposition of an azide group for using such azides in special materials.
