Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the study of antitumor, antimetastatic, morphological, immunological and angiogen-dependent effects of photodynamic therapy (PDT) with the second-generation photosensitizer, 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA). It has been shown that ALA-PDT effectively inhibited the growth of tumors and metastasis. These effects were accompanied by decreasing the vascular endothelial growth factor level and activation of the local and systemic immunity reactions ensues in a result of the ALA-PDT.
