The thesis is dedicated to the question of reduction of material-technical and power resources expenses on production of plant-growing produce at the cost of improvement of parameters of ground tools of machines for surface tillage and operating modes of their work. The method for calculating the strength of bonds between elements of a furrow slice is offered, and minimum-necessary energy for loosening soil was calculated. Its value varies in the range 14.9-19.5 J/dm3. A mathematical model for calculating values of shifting an element of a furrow slice with an edge was developed. The energy consumption for realizing this process was also calculated. To obtain the most qualitative loosening of soil with minimum energy consumption, parameters of the working head of a tiller for surface tillage were found experimentally: angle of cutting =5 -10 , angle of attack 2 =55 -60 , height of raising a furrow slice h=25-30 mm, working width B=300 mm. The calculation of economic efficiency of use of the cultivatorfor surface tillage equipped with the developed ground tool was made. Introduction in production of the cultivator equipped with this ground tool allows reducing specific energy consumption for realizing the process of soil preparation by 20-25 %.
