Essay

The thesis is devoted to the study of piano children’s album of the 19th - early 20th centuries as a genre phenomenon that is inherently congenial with piano cycles of miniatures and piano didactic literature. Originality of the research consists in the following: hypothesis is grounded concerning development of piano children’s album, its genre and poetical features; as a result of the study of R.Schumann’s works, that are classical examples of this genre, the suggestion was made about two different poetical types of children’s album - lyrically-meditative and lyrically-narrative; the albums, including anonymous ones, that were popular for home performance in the 19th century, as well as recondite cycles “Piano in the nursery” by Arthur Lurie and “From Andersen’s Fairy Tales” by Sergei Bortkiewicz, are considered among the examples for the first time in the Ukrainian musicology.
