Essay

The dissertation is devoted to analytical and experimental study of drying kinetics in a packed bed of disperse material, in particular of buckwheat; study of the influence of the main factors on the drying process; study of coefficients and mechanisms of moisture transfer. Analytical dependencies for calculation of temperature in a material’s bed during the microwave drying have been obtained as well as dependencies for temperatures of the gaseous and solid components at conductive-convective drying at a moving packed bed. Kinetics of drying of a buckwheat bed at conductive, convective, microwave and combined heating modes has been experimentally investigated. Empirical dependencies for drying rate and temperature of material at the first stage of drying as well as generalised equations for moisture content and temperature have been obtained. On the basis of comparison of process duration, temperature and energy expence rational methods of drying have been determined.
