The thesis deals with historical-legal analyses of formation and development of legal foundations regulation of language policy in Ukraine at the end of XVIII - in beginning XXI of century. The work analyses the level of scientific consideration of the theme, determines the trends of state's activity in realization of the language policy and the key problems in certain periods of it study. The thesis summarizes, taking into account the specific historical conditions, the main typical features of appreciations the social-political essence of language policy by the scientists.
