Essay

The physical processes of creation and dynamics of electrons and negative ions in plasma sources on the basis of a penning trap, as well as a cusp electromagnetic trap have been studied. The features of the axial evolution of energy specters of an electron beam ejected from a plasma sources based on a penning trap have been determined. It has been proposed a new method to control the current of the ejected electron beam. The features of emission and discharge characteristics of a penning plasma electron source of with a hollow cathode have been studied under using of an electrically asymmetric circuit between cathodes and operation gases with various mass numbers. The possibility of the generation of negative ions in a plasma source based on a single-cusp electromagnetic trap with a plasma source of electrons has been demonstrated.
