Tereshkun O. The Ukrainian nation as a political subject: genesis, status, progress tendencies.

In the thesis the processes, factors and tendencies of formation and development of the Ukrainian nation as a political subject are investigated on the basis of the materials of the political history of Galychyna and Naddniprianshchyna of the end of the ХІХ - the ХХ centuries. The influence of Austrian and Russian political-legal factors on the development of political consciousness of the Ukrainian people, the process of development of the Ukrainian national idea, the work of public and political organizations, local authorities as institutions of self-organization and formation of the nation as a political subject are dealt with in the thesis. Besides, the most essential ethnic and political factors than caused the display of the national self-awareness of the Ukrainian people and the tendencies of the political self-determination are investigated.
