Petrova O. Peculiarities of nomination in German and Ukrainian pseudonymy.

The thesis is concerned with the study of English and Ukrainian literary and publicistic pseudonyms. 7105 German and 5201 Ukrainian pen-names have been analyzed in terms of the principle, motive and way of nomination as parameters of interlingual comparison. The specific character of the anthroponymic category of pseudonym has been distinguished; the functions of the pseudonym and features of pseudonymic nomination as a special type of name formation have been established. The main principles of nomination have been singled out and the motives of nomination operating in the systems of German and Ukrainian pen-names have been explored. Ways and means of pseudonym formation have been investigated. Convergent and divergent features of pseudonymic nomination in German and Ukrainian caused by specific intralinguistic and extralinguistic factors have been described.
