Essay

Subject of research - processes of solidification, cooling and shrinkage of continuous billets cast on high-speed machines. Aim of research - determining process parameters that allow to improve billets cast on high-speed CC quality and increase durability of mould inner surface. Methods of research : theoretical analysis, mathematical modelling, industrial experiments. Sets: optical pyrometr (accurace rating 0,5), inside calliper (accurace 0,01 mm). Theoretical results - complex methods for shrinkage study, found relashionship of secondary cooling parameters influence on macrostructure for high-speed casting. Practical results - mould durability increase, improvement of billet quality. New statements: methods for shrinkage calculations and mould design are improved. For the first time a dependence for determining intensity of force interaction in the mould corners is proposed. Influence of cooler flow rate onto small radius side decrease for high-speed casting is found. Rate of use: on the stage ofinitial casting parameters determining and in industry. Area of use - high speed casting on billet CC.
