Essay

The thesis researches into the effects of probiotics constructed from Bacillus-based bacteria (Monosporine-ПК and Biosporine) upon the organisms of laboratory animals under experimental zinc intoxication. A ten-day per oral introduction of zinc sulphate to the laboratory animals in amounts of 2 mg/kg of weight resulted in significant changes in the qualitative and quantitative composition of the intestinal microflora. The derangements in the intestinal microbiocenosis composition were characterized by a decrease in the quantity of obligate anaerobic microflora and an increase in the level of conditionally pathogenic bacteria, yeast-like fungi. Certain indices of the organism's immune and metabolic status were observed to derange under zinc intoxication. Zinc intoxication was ascertained to be accompanied with a decrease in the level of thyroid hormones and change in the concentration of blood serum immunoglobulins. Bacillus-based probiotics were first applied as correction means against zinc poisoning.Therapeutic use of the probiotics (Monosporine-ПК and Biosporine) proved highly efficient against the derangements in the intestinal microbiocenosis caused by zinc intoxication. The intestinal microbiocenosis of the animals that had preventively been given bacterial preparations, tended to normalize.
