Essay

The dissertation researches the discourse of individual memory in the French novels of 1970-2000. Special attention is paid to the peculiarity of pseudo-autobiographic diegesis in terms of constructing subject’s (narrator’s) self-identity. The dissertation study applies hermeneutic, phenomenological, and structural/functional approaches to tracing semiotic specifics of individual memory modes in the novelistic discourse, elucidating femonemologizing the time within memory diegesis, and describing narrative specifics of autobiographic pact. The research constitutes the comprehensive analysis of poetic characteristics of the French novel-pseudo-autobiography written at the end of the 20th century.
