The dissertation focuses on the linguostatistic study of systemic and functional characteristics of the English verb in popular political novels. The data obtained allowed to conclude that lexical, semantic and grammatical verb characteristics interact in speech. This interaction manifests itself in the interrelation and interdependence of lexical, semantic and morphological verb characteristics; lexical, semantic and syntactical verb characteristics; morphological and syntactical verb characteristics. Interdependence of their frequencies is one of the manifestations of such interaction. There exists the interdependence between the verb semantics and frequency of groups of its conjugated forms; between the verb semantics and type and frequency of the kernel patterns of its grammatical combinability; between frequency of groups of conjugated verb forms and type and frequency of the kernel patterns of its grammatical combinability. It has been proved that verbs and nouns of socio-political semantics areexposed to be have genre forming potential and provide realization of pragmatic slant of a popular political novel. It has been also established the dependence between the genre of a literary work, its theme and the author’s usage of verbs and nouns of certain semantics.
