The thesis is devoted to the quantitative study of the regional and age (from the period of intra-uterine development till 85 years) peculiarities of the human brain metabolism by in vivo 1Н NMR. In this work the new quantitative approach for the analysis of the in vivo MRS experimental data is proposed. This approach allows us to establish empirical connections between the brain state and values of the quantitative indicators based on the in vivo 1Н NMR spectral data: amplitudes, peak areas, line widths and relaxation times of the signals of protons of the main cerebral metabolites. On the basis of age and regional dependences of metabolism in the normal brain during its formation, maturation and ageing the quantitative criteria of an estimation of pathological changes in the central nervous system caused by the intra- and extracranial tumors, ischemic stroke, and various neurodegenerative disorders are formulated.
