Apanasenko G. Orest Novitsky about the essence of the subject of philosophy and the problem of periodisation of historico- philosophical process

The thesis enlightens the Orest Novitsky's views on the subject of philosophy and the problem of periodisation of historico-philosophical process. On the basic of analysis of philosopher's works his understanding of the essence and tasks of philosophy is investigated. The main attention is drawn to the thinker's solution the problem of correlation of philosophy and religion, of faith and knowledge. The fact is that Novitsky tried to unite faith and sence, philosophy with religion. His opinion about philosophy and religion the philosopher demonstrates by his periodisation of the history of philosophy. The thesis enlightens new and original aspects; distingnished by him during the study of historico-philosophical process, the sceme of the periodisation of the history of philosophy drawn by Novitsky is analised in detail. The major role and meaning of the work of the philosopher for Ukrainian history of philosophy was also explained.
