Essay

The object of study – the Reformation in Germany and formation of territorial Evangelical Church and school. The purpose of study is finding-out of the Reformations features in Braunschweig and creation of bases territorial evangelical church and school organization in this city. The methods used in the research are: historical-typological, historical-genetic, diachronous and synchronous, comparative-historical, system analysis and content-analysis. The practical value of work consists in use of the received results by preparation of general and special lecture courses on a history of Germany, for a spelling of the textbooks and manuals on a history of a middle ages and early new time, in works on the Reformations history, history of Catholic and Evangelic-Lyuterian Church, history of education. In this dissertation the reformation movement, establishment of the Braunschweig Evangelical Church and school organization are investigated on the base of wide range of sources. The status of Church and school in the medieval Braunschweig, the evangelical movement in this town, Johannes Bugenhagen’s views and activities are studied. The contents of Braunschweig church ordinance and the meaning of this document are analyzed. The main directions and results of the Evangelical Church and school development in Braunschweig in the period of the late Reformation are determined. The positions of Braunschweig municipal council is proved to have changed under the influence of both burghers protests and the course of territorial ducal ruling and the evangelical princes in different periods of the Reformation. It is established that regional model of the church and school organization which was reflected in Braunschweig ordinance for the first time in 1528, in future was implemented both in this town and its borough and in other evangelical territories.
