Essay

The dissertation deals with improvement of the efficacy of treating patients with autoimmune thyroiditis (AIT) in presence of hypothyroidism and accompanying coronary disease (CD) by elaboration of complex treatment using low-intensity laser therapy (LILT). The use of the given complex of medical means made it possible, for the whole period of the research, to normalize the levels of the thyroid hormones, thyroidstimulating hormone, cellular and humoral antithyroid immunity and lipid peroxidation, as well as to eliminate dyslipidemia, thereby demonstrating efficacy of the treatment. The followup for six months after LILT revealed a decrease of the thyroidstimulating and immunocorrective effects of LILT, necessitating its sec-ond course. It resulted in prolongation of the clinical-immunologic remission of AIT in patients with CD.
