Essay

In the dissertation a complex source study and cultural-philosophic investigation is undertaken. These observations bring into light the typological features of European academic education in the scientific-pedagogical activities of the Musicological department of the Lviv University (1912-1939). The aim of the study is to reveal the genesis of the idea of musical science in the European and Ukrainian educational systems, beginning from its including into the quadrivium system as the medieval theory of music to the formation of musicology in the second half of the nineteenth century.
