Savchuk L. Perfection of pigs' productive properties under selection according to the correlation of growth constants

Research оbject: pigs of the Big White breed (intrabreed type Ukrainian White breed-1), distributed into groups according to live weight (equal weight groups), and growth rate-based groups. Research aim: determining the effect of different growth rate rations (initial, final) of young pigs on their reproductive and productive properties; substantiating expediency of raising animals in equal weight groups, and perfecting assessment techniques for evaluating their pedigree value via probit-method and selection indices. Methods: zootechnicals; laboratory; biometric and genetic-mathematical. Results for theory and application: efficiency of raising and fattening of pigs in equal weight groups is determined, the offspring of sows with a high growth rate revealing the same tendency. New criteria of assessing the animals according to a number of characters using selection indices and probit-method are proposed.
