Rozanova Z. The efficacy of GABA-vitamins derivatives in complex treatment of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment

Object: rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RDD). Purpose: the rising efficacy of treatment RDD. Methods: radioisotope, standart ophthalmological, measurement of threshold of electrical sensitivity and electrical lability, light sensitivity of retina. Slit lamp, indirect ophthalmoscope, counter of radioactivity, spectrophotometer,apparatus КНСО1-88 "Phosphen", adaptometer. For the first time was found that GABA and its vitamine derivatives accumulates by choroid and vitreous body much more than by retina, GABA-nicotinate (picamilon) come into eye structures in 3-5 times more intensively than GABA and jther its derivatives, in case of hypoxia the redistribution of GABA-nicotinate from vitreous body into retina is done. For the first time the retinoprotection of picamilon (GABA-nicotinate) on detached retina is shown, which is confirmed by electrical sensitivity of retinal internal layers improvement on the eyes with RDD. The method of RDD treatment is suggested, which include the using of picamilon in dosage 300mg a day before operation and in 150mg a day during a months after operation. The main results of the work are adopted in Filatov institute, Odessa and Volin Regional Hospitals. The sphere of use: medicine, ophthalmology.
