Object: Primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG), post-coagulation morphological changes in the ciliary body, especially post-operative changes in distribution and accumulation of the vitreous humor (VH) in the direction of the outflow pathways. Purpose: Improvement of the treatment quality in patients with POAG with the use of laser coagulation of the ciliary body (LCC). Methods: Computed tomography, morphological changes in the experiment and standard clinical methods (visometry, perimetry, gonioscopy, ophthalmoscopy, biomicroscopy, tonography, tonometry, A-B-scanning). For the first time, an original technique for the study of the VH outflow state after LCC was studied experimentally. The influence of laser intervention on the character of the morphological changes in the ciliary body and the mechanism of hypotensive effect was studied. The state of hydrodynamics in patients with POAG after LCC at various intervention techniques was investigated. Basic technique of the operation meeting the requirements of maximal efficacy and safety was determined. Comparative assessment of LCC techniques in complex treatment of POAG was performed. The findings of the research were introduced into the work of City Clinical Hospital No. 14 (Kharkiv), Ophthalmology Department of National Medical University named after O.O. Bogomolets, Ophthalmology Department of Kharkiv State Medical University. Treatment efficacy improvement. Sphere of application: medicine, ophthalmology.
