The dissertation focuses on the study of English electronic texts of linguists' home pages as a new type of written speech, which is based on the complex analysis of linguistic and stylistic, pragmatic, structural and functional peculiarities of the investigated texts. Strategies and tactics of creation of home pages are defined in the dissertation. Conclusions and generalizations concerning defining features of English electronic texts, peculiarities of the nature of such texts, regularities of structural, compositional and communicative organization of electronic texts of linguists' home pages are made, as well as the typology of the investigated electronic texts is suggested.
