Essay

The object is novels, essays and interviews by Martin Walser. The subject of the thesis is M.Walser's artistic world, shaped in the stated historical, literary and aesthetical contexts. The thesis is aimed at forming a holistic view on M.Walser's artistic world. The research methods applied are as follows: system-integral, formal-structural, immanent. A comprehensive description of the late novels (those after 1976) in terms of the writer's philosophical and aesthetical outlook evolution has been accomplished. The principal aspects of M.Walser's philosophical Weltanschauung has been established alongside the concepts of History, Language, Arts, Religion, the notions of Man and World, and other content dominants of the writer's artistic system have also been meaningfully pointed out, as well as the distinctive features of the novel poetics (genre specific character, the distinguishing features relating to the plot composition, temporal and spatial lay-out, images build-up and their integration, togetherwith the narrative novel structure). The analysis has revealed that M.Walser's artistic world constitutes an example of Realism, Modernism approaching to the constituents of Postmodernism. The application realm of the research findings is the training process.
