Fayda O. Byzantine study in the Kyiv Theological Academy in 1819-1919.

Byzantine studies held leading position in the educational programs, in the structure of the educational and scientific departments of the Kyiv Theological Academy, in the contacts of the institution with other educational and scientific institutions and played noticeable role in the improvement of the scientific qualification of teachers and students. Researches on the Byzantium history proceeded in the Academy through the mediation of the historical and theological sciences, first of all, church history, patrology, liturgy and church archeology. Scientific and pedagogical activity of the outstanding byzantinists of the institution, and also of Byzantine study works of the talented students of Academy, contributed to its development as one of the leading centre of the Byzantine studies in Russian Empire.
