Essay

The thesis is devoted to analysis of socio-psychological determinants of future managers' competitiveness. The paper includes theoretical substantiation, methodology and findings of an empirical study of management students' competitiveness. The author reveals the substance of an individual's competitiveness, in particular the manager's competitiveness. Future managers' competitiveness was found to be determined by a) general profession-relevant psychological characteristics, and b) specific profession-relevant characteristics. Student managers were shown to have low competitiveness without any dynamics during the entire period of their studies at the institution of higher education. Basic conditions for development of the subjects' competitiveness were shown to comprise a) students' socio-psychological training in competitiveness (covering its content and components); b) simulation of competitive managerial situations; c) encouragement of students' active cognitive activity and interpersonal interactions in solving managerial problems; d) development of individual competitiveness developing programs.
