Essay

Possible worlds in an English literary text and their temporal structure. The aim is to define the place and functions of temporal structure in possible worlds in a literary text. The methods are quantitative, descriptive, typological and the method of structural poetics. The schemes of hierarchical structure of the fictional world and artistic time were presented for the first time, their correlation was established. The determination of structural types of possible worlds in English prose; singling out of micro-, macro- and megalevel temporal structure of the fictional world; in the establishment of the correlation between both structures. The results of the work can be employed in scientific research of the wide philological spectrum - poetics, yext linguistics, stylistics. The sphere of usage - higher school.
