Essay

Subject of inquiry: the phenomena of the electromagnetic field interaction with planar doubly-periodic structures with arbitrary scalar material parameters and complicated geometry of a periodic cell. Research purpose: development of a numerical-analytical technique for electrodynamics problem resolution based on integral equations of macroscopic electrodynamics and application of the technique for performing of multiparametric computations of electrodynamic characteristics, analysis of physical features of the electromagnetic fields scattered by planar doubly-periodic magnetodielectric structures. Research methods: method of integral equations of macroscopic electrodynamics, the Floquet theorem, spectral method, method of moments, extinction theorem. New theoretical and practical results: theoretical generalization of the method on the basis of integral equations of macroscopic electrodynamics is executed; the new solution of a vector problem of electromagnetic wave diffraction on a planar doubly-periodic magnetodielectric structure is obtained; effective numerical algorithms and computer software packages for computation of amplitude, phase and polarization characteristics of the scattered fields are developed; the results of studying the characteristics of the fields scattered by structures with various geometry and material parameters are presented. Application domain: microwave engineering, optoelectronics.
