Essay

The dissertation examines one of the musical phenomenons of a modality as a basis of timbres functioning in a chamber and symphonic compositions. On numerous examples is shown as a modality of a timbre, representing itself as a component of composite logic, shows the specific Features, influences on the formation of a fonical, dramaturgical and semantical composition's levels. It is possible to name a subject of research (a modal timbre) as special carrier of properties of expressiveness and pithiness, important communicative means, connecting part between the text, its semantic and form. Due to the modal opportunities the timbre can carry out a role of "psychological installation" in the before-composite period or during recognition and interpretation of the composition Actuality of a theme is determined as novelty of a musical material (the chamber and symphonic compositions of the Ukrainian composers of last quarter XX centuries) and general tendency (both in composers creativity and in theoreticaldevelopment of the designated period) strengthened attention to a timbre, which accomplish by a profound understanding an internal resources of musical instruments and to expansion of their renditions opportunities, which based on a development of new sounds receptions. Modern composers interpreted them in creativity not only as coloristical means, but also in meaning their forms opportunities.
