This thesis focuses on the comparative-typological study of structural and semantic peculiarities of the functional-semantic category of authorization in the Ukrainian and English languages. 2108 Ukrainian and 2182 English authorized sentences have been analyzed. Qualification and classification characteristics of the category of authorization have been highlighted; its paradigmatic relations and links within the system of Ukrainian and English categories have been traced. The analysis of the reduction of structural-semantic components of the category in question has been carried out in terms of the specificity of varietivity of the reduced elements in Ukrainian and English. It has been shown that the categorical forms of authorization in both languages refer to three different authorization zones: core, semiperipheral and spectro-peripheral ones. Various manifestations of the category under analysis in Ukrainian and English on different language levels have been investigated. The semantic typology ofauthorship categorical forms has been considered.
