Bardakov H. Combined treatment of patients with cancer of operated stomach.

The thesis is devoted to the questions of combined treatment of the patients with a cancer of the gastric stump: neoadjuvant radiotherapy and adjuvant chemotherapy with radical operation. Cancer of the gastric stump consists of two pathologies with different pathogenesis: primary cancer of the gastric stump which can appearing appeared after resection of the stomach for benign pathology and stomach cancer relapse after distal subtotal gastrectomy. The authentic improvement of two- and five-year survival rates in patients with stomach cancer relapse treated with adjuvant chemotherapy was proven. The authentic improvement of two-year survival rates and tendency for improvement of five-year survival rates was noted in patients with primary gastric stump cancer. Adjuvant chemotherapy is more effective in patients with metastasis in regional lymphatic nodes. The authentic improvement of five-year survival rates in patients with stomach cancer relapse treated with neoadjuvant radiotherapy was proven. The causes promoting to recurrence development after primary surgical treatment of gastric cancer were analysed.
