Banking system of Ukraine. Deepen scientific substantiation of theoretical bases of bank capital regulation, improvement of its valuation and regulation mechanism, making proposals about rising capitalization's level and ensuring effective national banking system's development. Methods: analysis and synthesis, comparative characters, analytical grouping, statistical methods, comparative analysis. Taken into consideration are: the reasons for and the methods of the state regulation of bank capital, modern tendencies in its regulation in different countries and development prospects of its regulation in Ukraine. Advantages and disadvantages of present regulatory requirements to bank capital have been revealed, their effect on the development of national banking system being examined. There are offered the ways of rising efficiency of national bank capital regulation mechanism. Among them there are the following: to extend institutional structure of national banking system, to implement step by step new improved Basel Committee on Banking Supervision's recommendations, to reveal information about financial activity and real owners of domestic banks and to bring it to the public.
