Bohdan V. Syntactics, semantics and pragmatics of adjoining constructions and compound sentences with subordinate connection in Modern English

The paper focuses on a complex research of structural, semantic and pragmatic characteristics of adjoining constructions with the parts connected by the adjoining conjunctions that are homonymous to subordinate ones and complex sentences. The aim of investigation is a complex study of methods and means of realization of adjoining connection in adjoining constructions and subordinate connection in complex sentences as well as dissociation of adjoining constructions from similar to it units at the level of text and sentence. Similar and distinctive, obligatory and optional features of formal organization of adjoining constructions and complex sentences, their semantic and communicative and pragmatic features are determined; the criteria of dissociation of adjoining constructions from different types of adjoining and parcelling are offered, as well as textual features of adjoining constructions are revealed.
