Irina S. Primary classification of persons sentenced to imprisonment and their assignment to penitentiary institutions.

The thesis is devoted to the study of practices of selection of the penitent airy institution type for individuals sentenced to imprisonment, to the analysis of their primary classification mechanism and placement in penitentiary institutions. The thesis contains the concepts of the essence, goal, subjects, criteria and principles of primary classification. The paper pays special attention to the organizational issues of functioning of the commissions assigning the convicts to specific penitentiary institutions, the way of determining necessary types of institutions, selection of the specific location for sentence serving as well as establishment of a mechanism for protecting human rights of those individuals. The thesis makes suggestions for amending the present penal laws in order to wipe out the existing discrepancies.
