Tkachuk L. Iodine deficiency derangements of women and children in natural light endemia region

Dissertation is dedicated to studying iodine deficiency derangements of women and children in natural light endemia region. Object: iodine deficiency derangements in pregnant and nonpregnant women and minor children under condition of natural light endemia. The work is aimed to establish the effect of light iodine deficiency on forming the thyroid pathology and complications of pregnancy duration in women and also to detect the connection between iodine maintenance of the mother during pregnancy and the health state of newborn child. Methods and apparatus: clinical, instrumental, laboratory, epidemiological; apparatus “CONTRON”, fluorometer “Fluoroscan Neonatal”. Theoretical and practical results: complex examination of iodine maintenance of women and minor children in a zone of natural light endemia - the Northen region of Ukraine was made. Negative effect of iodine deficiency on the thyroid state and pregnancy duration in women and on the indices of physical and intellectual development in children were demonstrated. The new: iodine maintenance of newborn children in the region of light endemia was studied, connection between iodine balance in pregnant women and newborn child was established. The level of approach: the results can be used for prevention of iodine deficiency derangements in children by the group prophylaxis of pregnant women with iodine preparations. Field of application: endocrinology, pediatry, therapy.
