Essay

The thesis is devoted to the Greek music of the Cretan region. An example is the composer Dimitris Kapsomenos. His biography is being taught within a wide historical context. The genera developed by D. Kapsomenos are studied in the problematic ranges. The foundation by D.Kapsomenos of the Cretan branch of the Modern Greek school of music composition is noted, as well as the brilliant adaptation of the archaic Cretan music for a wider classical audience.
