Essay

The dark and photoinduced antimicrobial activity of synthetic porphyrins and their analogs towards opportunistic bacteria and particularities of their connection to bacterial cells are studied. The research object is the opportunistic bacteria sensitivity to new porphyrins and chlorins containing in meso-position N-methyl-4-pyridyl and N-methyl-6-quinolinyl. The activity of compounds with positive and negative molecule charge, asymmetric substituted compounds, free bases and metal-complexes of porphyrins is studied. It is shown, that bacterial cells are able to active connection of natural and synthetic porphyrins under room temperature. Natural porphyrins are completely absorbed in first minutes of incubation. Synthetic porphyrins are absorbed partly and more slowly. Іn the dark Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria have different sensitivity to studied compounds. There was no significant differences in photoinduced action. The metal-complexes of studied compounds are more active than free bases. Asimmetric substituted porphyrins are the most active among all studied compounds. Active compounds increase the test-microorganism antibiotic sensitivity in low concentrations. The received data show the perspective of new antiseptic and antimicrobial agents creation on the basis of studied compounds.
