Petrovs'kyj E. Investigational cases as a source of study of repressions in 1937-1938 in Ukraine.

General analysis systematization and description of more than 1000 archive cases from «P» fund of the USSC archive in Odessa region is carried out in the dissertation. Basic types of documents forming the cases are determined. The opportunity of getting new information offered by suck source for studying biographies of victims of mass repressions in 1937?1938 is analyzed. There is made an attempt to reconstruct the course, the forms and the methods of repressions in the period investigated in Odessa region; this reconstruction is based on the materials of investigational cases in Odessa archive and a lot of other sources. The ways of searching and fabrication of compromising materials, methods of conducting investigations and mechanism of taking repressive resolutions are shown. It is found out that mass repressions notwithstanding their regular character and generally accepted (within the country) norms of conducting had some local peculiarities which can be observed in investigational cases.
