Subject: eastern, western and old-Ukrainian mythologies, the works by Shevchenko, Gohol, Franko, L.Ukrainka,O.Zabuzhko,L.Kostenko. Pur-pose: to research the problem of interaction of eastern and western traditions in Ukrainian litera-ture using the gender's aspect of figurative world. Methods: comparative literature, gender studies. Practical significance: it is proved that gender's peculiarity forms and fixes contests, inward se-mantics of characters which consists in the repre-sentation of eastern and western cultures. And gender's intensity in the text's texture not only dis-play spiritual affinity of our nation with other eth-nics, but distinguishes the peculiarity of Ukrainian mentality, which has been formed using the tradi-tions of East and West.
