Essay

Object of investigation. Prosess of friction of pairs made from combined with different materials of the contacting planes. Goal of investigation. Development of physico-technological aspects of preparation of products from sapphires with high performance, biomechanical parameters. Methods of investigation and apparatures. Optical methods, mechanical method and X-ray methods. Modern equipment, nonstandard and industrial equipment for crystal treatment. Theoretical and practical results, novelty. The tribological properties of corundum single crystals (sapphires) depending on their crystallographic parameters and peculiarities of the processes of growth, annealing and treatment are investigated. The influence of the crystal lattice anisotropy on wettability of the surface is established. Optimum physical and mechanical parameters of sapphire elements for medical applications are established. Shown is the influence of the anisotropy of sapphire crystal lattice on the strength of endoprostheses with sapphire head and precision (non-sphericity) of their manufacture. Reduction to practice. The new construct of joint endoprosthes with sapphire head are reduced to Sytenko Institute of Spine and Joint Pathology. Application field. Modern branches of optics, instrumrnt production and medicine.
