In the dissertation we study the dynamics of the character personality on material of "Les Nourritures terrestres" ("Fruits of the Eath"), "L'immoraliste" ("The Immoralist"), "Les Cave du Vatican" ("The Vatican Cellers"), "La Symphony pastorale" ("Symphonie Pastorale"), "Les Faux-Monnayeurs" ("The Counterfeiters") works. The dynamics analysis of a strong character personality is based on displaying symbolist, modernist and existentialist aspects through philosophic and hedonistic criteria. In texts by Andre Gide we discover the availability of symbolic components: idealistic aims, a mystic search of ideal, character transformation into a polysemantic symbol, dualism of the real and ideal, anti-socially oriented art, synthesis of interior and exterior. In the author's works we trace the realization of modernist criteria: simulation of reality, anti-family orientation, childhood negativity, character logicality, anti-democracy, cues, form-creation, and intertexture. We distinguish the forming of existentialist features: cult of an individual, uniqueness of human existence, spiritual crisis. In author's heritage we discover the referential meaning realization of hedonism philosophy: life enjoyment, sensuality, aesthetic delight, cult of the beauty. The interpretation of the dynamics of the character personality in the sphere of his mentality and transformation of an individual's perception under the community traditions brought the scientific research to interpretational methods. The work demonstrates the perspective discovery of the dynamics of the character personality interpretation, which represents it in the unity of the most important gnoseological and poetics functions. The interaction of literature trends serves as a basis for the synthetical character of Andre Gide's artistic style, and is an important component of a new interpretation of the author's works. The dynamics of the character personality is defined through the author's aesthetical transition from symbolism to modernism through the philosophy of hedonism where the aspects of existentialism and postmodernism start forming. The dissertation describes the individual self-realization as an instrument of the universe perception and communication in it on the basis of the opposition between a social purpose and a personal vision. In belles-letters texts we discover the formation of a non-conformist thinking of a strong personality, we study the dynamics of the character personality from non-conformism to conformism. In the present thesis the works of Andre Gide are considered in the aspect of evolution of a strong libertarian individual who goes from nonconformism to conformism. On the basis of study of a peculiar example of transition from symbolism through hedonism to modernism where the most pointed tendencies of time are reflected (influenced by F. Nizsche, A. Bergson, S. Freud), we can observe a gradual forming of individual style of the writer who, finding his bearings in the revival of classical traditions and introducing new meaning-forming categories, comes to new forms and semantics, this fact proves the importance of the subject-matter of personality in the heritage of the writer. We emphasize the interpretation of works of Andre Gide as forming of eventual scenarios of realization of life of the individual, where conceptual dialogism of situational models is based on the experimental aspect of the works. The intellectualism and esthetism of the writer stand out and the essential question becomes the defining of borders of freedom and self-realization of individual, which organize problems, system of characters, ideological, psychological and philosophical characteristics. The achievement of set goal presupposes the necessity of systematic and phased solutions of concrete tasks: a problematic analysis of scientific literature on the specified questions is carried out; the role of philosophic, religious and art views of the author which formed the problems of his works is traced; the rightfulness of emphasizing of a strong personality concept in the works of A. Gide is grounded; essential features of a strong personality concept in the works of A. Gide are showed; the nature of correlation of theoretical and creative is analyzed based on the evolution of esthetical beliefs of the author compared with the philosophical and literary concepts of his time; the self-realization of an individual as a method of cognition of the world and communication in it is characterized on the basis of opposition of social conditioning and individual vision; symbolic idealistic directive , mystical search for an ideal, transformation of an image in a polysemantic image, dualism of real and ideal, asocial character of art, synthesis of internal and external appear; hedonistic pleasure is examined; modernistic modeling of reality, antifamily views, negative character of childhood, characterology, antidemocratic features, allusions, creativity of form, intertextuality are analyzed; presence of existential cult of individual, uniqueness of human existence, spiritualcrisis are exposed; forming of non-conformist thinking of a strong individual is traced; evolution of individual from nonconformism to conformism is proved.
