Essay

In the thesis the complex of the problems connected to making arms of the Ukrainian cities in Soviet period is considered. Principal factors and preconditions of the process of making city arms are determined. It is suggested and substantiated a division into periods the Soviet city heraldry. A graphic number of symbols and emblems, presented on city arms of the Soviet Ukraine is analyzed. Representation of the Soviet symbols on city marks is covered. The ideological motivation of making the new Soviet arms is shown. The professional and educational level of authors of the city arms within the Ukrainian SSR is ascertained. Influence of the Soviet heritage on development of modern municipal heraldry is shown.
