A number of vertical and isothermal sections of the reciprocal systems CuInS2+2CdSe=CuInSe2+2CdS, AgGaS2+2CdSe=AgGaSe2+2CdS were constructed. From the sections, liquidus surface projections and spatial phase diagrams were built. The crystal structure of a new quaternary compound AgCd2GaSe4 was studied. The single crystals of AgCd2GaSe4 and the crystals of the phase with the sphalerite structure on the 'CuCd2InSe4'-'Cu3Cd2In3S8' section were grown. Solid solution ranges of AgCd2GaS4 on the AgCd2GaS4-xSex, Ag1-xCuxCd2GaS4, AgCd2-xZnxGaS4, AgCd2Ga1-xInxS4, AgCd2GaS4-xTex and AgCd2Ga1-xLnxS4 (Ln - Nd, Gd, Er) sections were determined. The refinement of the crystal structure of certain alloys of these solid solutions established that the substitution is isovalent. The investigation of electric, thermoelectric and photoelectric properties of these solid solutions shows that all alloys have n-type conductivity with low thermo-EMF coefficient values. The most photosensitive alloys are AgCd2-xZnxGaS4 in the region of the reconstruction of the photoconductivity spectra (20-30 mol.% 'AgZn2GaS4').
