This research reveals the structure and combinability of the concept HARMONY verbalised by lexical means of Modern English. The paper determines the ontological preconditions of harmony, suggests the analysis of myths about harmony, as well as scrutinises the philosophical and scientific category of harmony. The semantic structure of the lexeme harmony and its derivatives as the key words that verbalise the concept HARMONY in Modern English is exposed. The model of the concept HARMONY has been introduced as such that embraces the primary (rational-logical and pictorial) modi, secondary (metaphorical and axiological) modi, as well as the tertiary modus associated with utilitarian or cultural significance of harmoniousness for speakers of English. It also contains the nucleus that preserves the most essential information about harmoniousness. Combinability of the concept HARMONY is represented through typified models of its coocurrence with other concepts. The role of combinability in the contextual realization of the concept HARMONY is revealed. Contextual shifts in the combinability of the concept HARMONY are examined. The main facets of contextual verbalization of the concept HARMONY are singled out and analysed. The obtained data are used to explain semantic and syntactic peculiarities of the lexeme harmony and its derivatives.
