Semenyuk M. Musical activity of Hnat Khotkevych in the context of the Ukrainian culture of the first third of the twentieth century (according to materials of the Central State Historical Archives, city of Lviv).

The dissertation is a complex study of all-round activity of Hnat Khotkevych, a comprehension of the scale of the artistic figure of the creator, revealing of organic connection between his activity and the needs of the national culture development at the definite historical stage. For the first time in the domestic art-criticism of our country on the basis of manuscripts from the private fund unused in scientific literature earlier, that is kept in the Central State Historical Archives in the city of Lviv, the creative work of Hnat Khotkevych is considered in the context of cultural, social and art tendencies in the late nineteenth - the first ten-years of the twentieth centuries and is systematized the musical heritage of Hnat Khotkevych. A great number of archival sources was introduced into scientific use that allows us to reconstruct the unknown chapters of the creator's life and creative work, on the basis of the analysis of the fragments of papers, notes and essays of aesthetic-philosophic content the signs of the syncretism of musical and theatrical activity of H. Khotkevych were revealed. For the first time the majority of representative patterns of chamber-vocal, vocal-symphony, instrumental and musical-dramatic activity of H. Khotkevych was analysed, as well as the evolution of his style was outlined.
