Essay

It is established that malacofauna in the study region comprises altogether 88 species (64 species belong to class Gastropoda, class Bivalvia is represented by 24 species). It was shown that regional malacofauna consist of three zoogeographical units. 4 "ponto-caspian" species are endemic. The presence of mobile zone of marine and fresh water masses mixing in the study region is demonstrated; the limits of the area of distribution for the species of Mediterranean complex and of species belonging to the Ponto-Caspian zoogeographical complex are designated by this zone. Data on qualitative and quantitative distribution of molluscs in the different type of water-bodies within the region studied have been obtained..
