Essay

The thesis is dedicated to research of theoretical, methodological and practical issues of the transnational corporation's foreign direct investment impact on the competitiveness of newly industrializing countries of Asia. The thesis defines the essense of country's competiteveness concept and shows us factors classification of the country's competitiveness enhancement. Aiming to deeply investigate the competitiveness components the thesis contains the comparative analysys of international organizations methodology of estimating countries' competitiveness. The research of TNC activities in the NICs' different competitiveness stages is presented and their significant role in pushing NICs economies to the innovation stage is grounded. The econometrical model of TNC's impact on such competitiveness components as export potential, scientific and technical potential and market of highly qualified human resources is elaborated. The hyposysis of the FDI positive influence on the stipulated competitiveness components is proved. The lags of FDI and government expenditures' maximum influence are explored and compared in accordance to their effectiveness. The factors of Ukraine's low competitiveness rating and its potential competitive advantages are researched. The regression-correlation analysys of FDI impact on three competitivenss components is applied. Results show the substantial investments impact on this components' development and prove the necessity of FDI attraction to the Ukrainian economy. Based on the model's results and the experience of NICs competitiveness development the author provides suggestions on the government strategy elaboration to enhance the Ukrainian economy's competitiveness.
