Essay

The thesis states the results of the investigation of changes in effective and potential fertility of grey forest silt sandy loam soil in the northern Forest-Steppe zone of Ukraine at continuous (40 years) application of organic and mineral fertilizers in crop-rotation and the cessation of their application for a period of four years. The traditional fertilization systems (mineral, organic and organo-mineral ones) and promising fertilizer systems with the use of plant residues provide changes in physical, chemical, and agrochemical soil properties, crop productivity and quality in a crop rotation link (maize for silage - winter rye-peas). The nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium balance in the system "plant- fertilizer" was determined. It is established that at shortage of mineral fertilizer it is advisable to apply by-products of plant growing as fertilizer. The economically reasonable degree of crop rotation saturation with mineral and organic fertilizer in moderate rates (194-261 kg/ha of crop rotation area) is substantiated at growing crops in crop rotation.
