Essay

The dissertation is dedicated to the issue of measuring the amplitude of pseudoaccommodation in case of pseudophakia and to the evaluation of the factors that condition it. To achieve the set goal graphic method for measuring the depth of focus and amplitude of pseudoaccommodation was elaborated. Also mathematical estimations of depth of focus on Gullstrand schematic eye were carried out. In the result of clinical trial using the elaborated method inverse dependency of depth of focus from the visual acuity and pupil diameter was fixed. This result of the study coincided with the results of mathematical estimations, performed previously. It was proved that amplitude of pseudoaccommodation in patients with monofocal IOL is greater under the condition of the maximal visual acuity and minimal pupil size. Amplitude of pseudoaccommodation in patients with diffractive bifocal IOL ReSTOR was evaluated. It depends on the pupil diameter and in average overdimensions amplitude of pseudoaccommodation in patients with monofocal IOL in 1.68 times. Typical features of visual acuity for different distances in patients with IOL ReSTOR were reported. These features indicate bifocal properties of IOL ReSTOR.
